History
Rhema Christian Center was formed in 1981 as a small home
fellowship of eight individuals sharing a common vision
of promoting God's work in the Columbus community.
La Fayette Scales was ordained as Pastor of the assembly
in May 1983. Since its inception, Rhema's leadership has
aggressively pursued its vision of God's work with top priority
promoting self-sufficiency through individual empowerment.
Dayspring Christian Community Development Corporation was
established as the community development extension of Rhema Christian Center." The corporation
addresses seven major areas of community need: 1) housing;
2) child care; 3) Family; 4) literacy; 5) small business
development; 6) job readiness; and 7) youth development.
Vision
Pastor Scales has charged that Dayspring (DCCDC) should
embrace the following program values:
* Engage people to pursue their purpose and goals, "Individually
and corporately."
* Empower people with the necessary skills and resources
to accomplish their goals.
* Elevate people from a place of dependency to independence
and freedom in life's seven major areas: Spirit, Soul, body,
family, community, financial and quality of life.
