We believe that effective,
long-term strategies must
be developed and anchored
upon Christian principles.

"Our primary objective is
to engage the despairing
and downtrodden of our
community with hope to
realize their fullest

History

Rhema Christian Center was formed in 1981 as a small home fellowship of eight individuals sharing a common vision of promoting God's work in the Columbus community.

La Fayette Scales was ordained as Pastor of the assembly in May 1983. Since its inception, Rhema's leadership has aggressively pursued its vision of God's work with top priority promoting self-sufficiency through individual empowerment.

Dayspring Christian Community Development Corporation was established as the community development extension of Rhema Christian Center." The corporation addresses seven major areas of community need: 1) housing; 2) child care; 3) Family; 4) literacy; 5) small business development; 6) job readiness; and 7) youth development.

Vision

Pastor Scales has charged that Dayspring (DCCDC) should embrace the following program values:

* Engage people to pursue their purpose and goals, "Individually and corporately."

*
Empower people with the necessary skills and resources to accomplish their goals.

* Elevate people from a place of dependency to independence and freedom in life's seven major areas: Spirit, Soul, body, family, community, financial and quality of life.
